I will change my Internet provider soon to Kabel Deutschland because my DSL line at home has the speed not higher than 3 megabits per second. That is why I informed me recently about offers of Kabel Deutschland and found out that if I get a contract, I’ll get once 100 text messages for free. I do not know how long this offer is valid, but if someone, like me, has the similar problem with the power of the DSL line, and want to change the provider then the package of 100 SMS for those could be perhaps an extra incentive.
In the time of the free video-on-demand with DVD-quality you can not do really much with a line of 3 Mbit. No idea what the providers thinking about, but I think it is high time to invest in the infrastructure. Or maybe they are waiting until Deutsche Telekom gives them an access to VDSL lines?

100 SMS by Kabel Deutschland
Thursday, January 22nd, 2009O2 works at messenger for mobile phones
Tuesday, December 16th, 2008That’s what I call a sign of change. The major players in the mobile industry seems to have changed their opinions about the Internet services via mobile phone. Few years ago a messenger on the phone was a taboo. I remember my old good Sony Ericsson T630, where O2 deleted the messenger from the firmware. I turned directly to Sony Ericsson to find out why my phone has no any messenger, although this mobile phone was advertised with it. The answer was: O2 wanted to have any messenger on this phone. Now the ladies and gentlemen of O2 think different.
The success of the iPhone was certainly one reason why the more retarded restrained managers of German mobile phone companies are changed their strategy. They are now probably very jealous and they would like to have similar success like Apple just made. Please note, Apple did not invest any cent in the infrastructure of the mobile phone companies!
And what about me, as consumer, I am naturally pleased that instant messaging is no longer seen as competitor to text messages service, but as an evolution of wireless communication.
1x1sms
Sunday, November 30th, 2008www.1x1sms.de is an another page where you can send text messages to friends from the computer, without to need paying money for it
Besides sending the SMS feature the site offers a brief explanation of the general terms, which are used in connection with text messages concept.
To be able to send text messages with the help of this page, you should first answer a funny question, something like: “How much is 5 Ipod x 3 Xbox.” Of course, there is no answer to this question, which the owner of the site will admit that if you try to guess the answer. After that you should solve a little arithmetic question to prove that you are not a bot. It is quite risky for the owners of such services to offer free sms sending, especially if they offer it without a registration. There are many nerds who try cause high costs to the owner of such service. They have no aim to generate any money from this activity, but they find it just amazing to do something bad to someone.
The owner of this site, according to the info page of 1x1sms is a company www.0815sms.com
According to the terms you can send 5 text messages per day into your local country or 2 text messages abroad. How the owner could control this with the site where no any registration needed, I can’t understand.
EU Commission wants lower prices for SMS
Wednesday, October 8th, 2008As you can see, there are not only disadvantages of the bureaucracy at EU level. The international roaming fees were reduced with the assistance and pressure from EU Commission significantly, so that it now no longer so critical, if someone is calling while you are abroad or when you call from the European countries to your home country. Some people still remember the days when SMS was free. The mobile operator realized pretty quickly that the text messages are a good source of income and made this charge. The price for a message in comparison with the costs for the transmission of this message is to high. If you still travel abroad, then it is would be significantly more expensive. This will be apparently changed very soon, because the EU commission urged the operators to make prices lower. If they fail to do so, the EU commission would decide about the prices of text messages by itself. They did it once, as some operators ignored the order to make roaming fees lower.
This is a great development. I travel quite often within Europe and therefore I would benefit particularly on this regulation. The only question is when my providers follow this order.
Sendation: www.sendation.de
Thursday, July 31st, 2008Some reader of my blog told me today about a new website where it is possible to send short messages relatively simply and for free. As usual, I was looking for the terms in order to find a danger that the service is not free or the data will be sold to third parties. I found nothing that could confirm my fears. The owner of the site promises that the data will not be sold to third parties. However, you should know that the owner saves all the information, including IP address, telephone number and text message to prevent abuse.
The dispatch of a message works, albeit not exactly intuitive. There are two fields that need to be filled. They are called “recipient” and “Message”. After clicking on the button “send message” you will see a banner in pop-up window. Here you have to keep a little caution, because the advertising looks like input mask for sending of text messages and you might think that the procedure with the input should be repeated. This is not the case. The click on the banner leads to a page where you can send text messages for money. It would be better if you simply close the window with this advertisement. Now you need to confirm your wish to send a message by clicking on confirmation button. After that you will see a form where you should enter a number that should be calculated. For example if you see “14-7″ you should enter the 7 in the answer form. After you confirm the result of calculation you will finally get a button called “Send FreeSMS now”. After the pressing of it the text message will be finally sent. I admit that it looks a bit complicated in practice it works pretty fast.
I sent 2 text messages. Both messages were immediately delivered. Therefore, I believe that this site should be mentioned here.
Of course I can’t give any guarantee that this service will work as I described here, because I’m not an owner of it.
Free text messages provided by metacrawler
Saturday, May 31st, 2008http://metacrawler.de/sms/ is really a great site where you can send SMS for free. Immediately after the loading of the page in your browser you get a form for a telephone number and a message. After filling up, you must still accept the terms and conditions and then you can send the SMS.
Of course you must read the terms before accepting them, at least theoretically, but I read only half of it.
The main information is that the site saves some information about you, such as IP address, because they would use it to prevent a abuse. The limit, according to the terms is 3 SMS per day and user, but only one SMS per hour. In order to prevent spam, the recipient will receive only 2 messages per day independent of whether the sender is the same, or there are different people. This is understandable, because they are not able to control the users. On the Internet you can very easily fake IP address. Normally, it is enough for this, only disconnect from Internet for a moment and then connect to the Internet again. Unfortunately you can send SMS only in Germany. Normally I do not need to send a text message abroad, but occasionally it happens and the text messages costs on my mobile service provider significantly more than those within Germany.
If you receive the unwanted sms from this website, you can block the sending of short messages to your number, you need to send an e-mail to those mentioned in the terms of use e-mail address and tell your number.
In addition, it pointed out that it also may be delayed, which is not normally happen. I sent two SMS for test today, both came immediately. I am pleased with the service actually and would like to to use it, if I will have a problem with Zelfi SMS or GMX.
Send unlimited free sms with -free sms- with Zelfi
Tuesday, January 30th, 2007Zelfi finally offers since some time announced java-program for cell phones that makes possible to send free sms on the way.
Sms are advertising financed. The advertising insertion takes place shortly before sending the message.
The shipment of the message of “Free SMS” is free, but the costs of GPRS-transfer could incur, it depends on your mobile provider and rate.
The GPRS-transfer costs are very different. It seems that with my prepaid-card (1 Kilobyte costs me 1 cent) the price of one message is around 2.5 cents.
You should also be careful and inform yourself about the rates of your mobile provider, because it could be much expensive as the price of my provider. Some mobile providers offer also Data-Packs, this Data-Packs could lower your GPRS-costs.
The “winners” of these services are people, who have UMTS- or GPRS-Flatrate, because they can use -Free SMS- from Zelfi really for free.
Free sms without registration at www.1sms4free.com
Thursday, November 30th, 2006I have just found a new service for sending of free sms. You don’t need to have an account to send sms with 1sms4free, that’s why it could be useful for people, who needs sometimes to send a few sms, but has not time and wish to register any accounts. It’s seems that those sms are advertising financed.
The downside of this service is the time limitation of free sms for all users. There is a quantity of free sms that all users can use in x hours and if the limit is reached, you must wait for a new part of free sms. But you have also big advantage, you don’t need to create any accounts and tell your mobile phone number or email.

If you want to send free sms, you must register an “GMX Free Mail Plus” account and give your bank account information. It is necessary for the cases if you send more than 10 sms monthly and GMX are able than to receive a money for those sms via debit.
In addition, you must be aggrieving to receive a newsletter with commercial offers from partners of GMX.
I’m using GMX-services more than one year and I haven’t yet any problems.
But if you want to communicate via sms on the way, you can try “Free SMS” from Zelfi.
